Members of the United Kingdom IT Association (UKita) now have the chance to take up membership of the FPB, at no cost to their business.

The added benefits come as part of a deal struck between UKita and the FPB and will enable UKita members to secure better deals on business essentials including telecoms, payroll and merchant services.

They will also be able to take advantage of the FPB's member helpline, as Senior Member Services Representative, Philip Moody, explained.

"We are here to answer our members queries, whether it is a question about business rates or the latest change to employment law. Our members can call our experienced team, who can offer practical assistance for any business problem."

UKita members will be entitled to discounts on the FPB's practical business guides, including those on employment law and health and safety in the workplace. They will also be able to have their say in the FPB's campaigning activities, take part in surveys and give comment on the issues that are impacting on the running of their business.

Bob Boyd is Chief Executive of UKita. He said: "This deal also gives members of the FPB the chance to join UKita as affiliate members for free, which could raise their company profile on all major search engines. They will also be able to join as full members at a discounted rate.

Exposure to the UK's IT market and its support network is a big opportunity for members of the FPB, and UKita members welcome the chance to work with them."

UKita members will also be able to upgrade to enhanced membership of the FPB, which includes legal expenses insurance worth up to £75,000 for each section of cover; something Mr Moody says gives peace of mind to members.

"Members know that, in the event of litigation, from employment tribunals to health and safety prosecutions, they are able to call upon the cover without landing an expensive bill."

Tracy Hoather runs Sameday plc, a freight haulage company in Knutsford, Cheshire. As a member of the FPB, she has called upon the FPB's support.

"The FPB's legal advice line gave us invaluable help on disciplining a member of staff. After following their advice, we knew we would be covered by the FPB's legal expenses protection, should the worst happen and we were taken to a tribunal. As a small business, this kind of peace of mind is invaluable," she said.
